DHCP, DNS, initialization and firmware files

Samsung TVs

  • Provision a DHCP Server to provide IP Addressing to the TVs.

  • Provision a DNS Server to map the DNS name tizen.local to the IP Address of the IPTV Server. This DNS name is a requirement in setting up Samsung TVs.

    • In cases where the enterprise doesn’t  allow *.local DNS names in the DHCP Server, install a DNS Server in the IPTV Host.

  • Add the DNS option to the TV VLAN scope

LG TVs and STBs

  • A DNS Server is not a must have for LG TVs, however, it simplifies TV setup.

    • An alternative to having a DNS server is to configure option “067 Bootfile name” in the TV VLAN scope.

  • If a DNS Server is present, map the DNS name procentric.local to the IP Address of the IPTV Server.

    • In cases where the enterprise doesn’t  allow *.local DNS names in the DHCP Server, and Bootfile name option is not possible, install a DNS Server in the IPTV Host.

  •  Add the DNS option to the TV VLAN scope
